Become a LIFEGUARD CANIDATE in just 5 easy steps!
- 1. Fill out an application at the Round Lake Area Park District: Robert W. Rolek Community Center, 814 Hart Road, in Round Lake. If you have any questions, please call 847-740-9823 and ask for Matt.
- 2. Successfully complete the interview process.
- 3. Successfully complete the Jeff Ellis & Associates On-Line Lifeguard Training Program. The program will take approximately 12 hours and includes an exam that the candidate MUST pass before moving to the next step. Registration cost for the On-Line Program is $32.
- 4. Successfully pass the In-Water Practical Exam*
- 5. Enjoy a fun, but challenging summer job!
* Includes a 200 yard swim (eight lengths of the pool), feet first surface dive 12 feet under water to retrieve a 10 pound brick and treading water for two minutes without using your arms. The exam will take approximately 20 hours to complete, depending on weather. Candidates are required to attend all pre-season training hours.

Wanted: Teen Camp Counselors
If you’re looking for an exciting, challenging and rewarding summer, look no further than the Round Lake Area Park District! As a teen camp counselor, you’ll make new friends, take field trips, go swimming and develop leadership skill...all while getting paid. Your campers will be 11-14 years old, and training starts at the end of May. After that, camp will continue through August 8th. Candidates must be 18 years old, and able to work 40 hours a week.
